Cartier 18K Yellow Gold Lion Bangle

King Edward VII famously dubbed Cartier “the jeweler of kings and the king of jewelers”. This is in no way an exaggeration. On top of providing the British monarch with 27 tiaras for his coronation in 1902, Cartier has also received warrants of appointment from the royal courts of Spain, Portugal, Russia, and many others. So it only makes this solid 18 karat gold depiction of nature’s own symbol of royalty all the more appropriate.

This extremely rare Cartier bangle from the 1960s features intricate hand-engraved textures that serve to replicate a lion’s luxurious coat. Its fiercely bold design makes it the sort of piece that would have appealed to unapologetic bombshells like Sophia Loren or Jayne Mansfield; women who might enjoy the idea of using the king of the jungle to tell the world that there’s nothing more wild and powerful than a queen.
