When a piece of jewelry ends up on the arm of the main character in a critically acclaimed film directed by a luminary of the modern fashion world, there is little doubt that it has to be truly exceptional. Such is the case with this vintage Bvlgari watch, with which none other than Tom Ford saw fit to adorn Amy Adams in his 2016 film Nocturnal Animals.*
A member of Bvlgari’s Tubogas family of jewelry, this piece consists of two interlocking, unsoldered yellow gold bands patiently wrapped around the springy wooden core of the bracelet, allowing the watch to coil firmly but comfortably around the wrist of the wearer. The famous “Bvlgari-Bvlgari” design that helped to elevate the brand in the 1980s is etched around the bezel in a style that — along with the watch’s snake-like design— almost tricks one into thinking that it might be an ancient artifact from somewhere along the Mediterranean. An exotic and fabulous statement timepiece that doubles as a chunky and sophisticated tubogas bracelet, this watch instantly adds an air of bold mystique and steely poise to the wearer.
*Please note, while Amy Adams can be seen wearing a timepiece exactly like this one in Nocturnal Animals, this particular timepiece for sale was not used in the film.
