This rare Audemars Piguet “Baroque” asymmetrical ladies wristwatch, reference 66253BA, is a non-conventional dress watch that feels like it was conceived as sculpture first, timekeeper second. Produced in a limited run in 1986 and during the long and influential tenure of Jacqueline Dimier, Audemars Piguet’s first true in-house designer, this piece belongs to a period of remarkable creative freedom at the manufacture.
Here, Dimier draws inspiration from the organic elegance of orchids. The marquise-shaped 18k yellow gold case favors curvature, tension, and fluidity. At its center is a blue guilloché dial, animated by fine engine-turned engraving and protected by a faceted, carved rock crystal that amplifies light and depth with gem-like intensity. Branding is minimal, allowing form and material to shine.
The integrated solid gold beaded bracelet, composed of closely articulated spheres, flows seamlessly from the case, reinforcing the watch’s dual identity as high jewelry and watch. The effect is pure elegance.
