The Glissade works by concealment. Its 18k yellow-gold case is split into two rectangular planes; the left-hand plate slides across the right, covering and revealing a minimalist dial. In the closed position, it is not immediately legible as a watch at all. It resembles a compact clasp, a small piece of luggage hardware, or, quite deliberately, an abstracted “H”. The triple vertical grooves on the cover provide the visual hinge of the composition: hard, architectural lines set against gold’s softness.
One slides the plate aside, and the dial appears, minimal, with fine wave texture engraved over Mother-of-Pearl, applied square hour markers, slim gold hands, and the Hermès Paris signature.
The Orange H leather strap is the charge running through the whole composition. The quartz movement is accordingly perfect: discreet, thin, exact, always ready when the sliding cover permits.
