Victorian 18k Yellow Gold Cattleya Orchid and Pearl Earrings 1880s
In the years of Queen Victoria’s reign, Floriography was all the rage. A coded language of flowers was used by the sender to express feelings they dare not say out loud. An entire poem could be written with a bouquet. In accordance with the dictionary of Floriography, these distinctive Cattleya orchid earrings almost certainly found their way to a woman of “mature charm”. Forged in 18 karat yellow gold and each accented with a small natural freshwater pearl, this one-of-a-kind set serves as a quiet statement of one’s alluringly sophisticated nature.
